How we came to be

Our story begins with frustration—but also hope. As young experts working in various fields, we saw firsthand how many institutions that were meant to lead the charge for justice and sustainability had become trapped in outdated ways of thinking, unable or unwilling to embrace the bold changes our world so desperately needs.

As migrants and global citizens, we’ve experienced both the challenges and the opportunities of a rapidly changing world. We recognized that addressing these challenges required a fresh perspective—a platform where creativity, experimentation, and courageous action could thrive without bureaucratic constraints or fear of failure.

And so, we came together to create this space. It was born out of a shared belief that new ideas, new methods, and new systems are the only path forward. From our diverse backgrounds and experiences, we are united by a common mission: to imagine and build a better future for everyone.

Who built this platform?

As the main convener and creator of this platform, I, Camila Cosse was profoundly inspired by the resilience and creativity of young professionals across the globe who took the initiative to fund their own platforms. Their frustrations with legacy media sparked a movement, exemplified by innovative projects like Gelatina, Futu-rock, Hasan's Minaj’s YouTube platform, Zeteo, and Tiempo Argentino. These examples illuminated for me the gaps that still exist in the conversations and reporting around crucial societal and environmental issues in relaxed and fresh tones. I recognized that there is a growing audience for platforms where there are discussions on complex topics in accessible terms. Motivated by this vision, I embarked on designing and building a space that fosters communication among international, mobile professionals dedicated to societal and environmental challenges. This platform aims to empower voices that resonate with the urgency of today’s messages, creating a community where we can collaborate, share ideas, and inspire change.

As I started envisioning this platform, I realized that many of the people I’d met - people whose perspectives I found both interesting and essential - happened to be migrants. Living and existing across different places, cultures, geographies, and environments seemed to give them a unique ability to reflect on and challenge entrenched ideas. This inspired me to think that perhaps this cross-cultural mobility could add a much-needed nuance to the way we approach conversations about the pressing issues of our time.I wanted this platform to be a space where we could invite ourselves - and others - to deconstruct our own ideas and assumptions. In today’s world, if we are to ensure a healthy planet and a sustainable future, we must be willing to challenge the narratives we’ve internalized and participate in conversations that foster critical thinking.

One of the core ideas I wanted to address is the way people perceive topics such as biodiversity, climate change, and equity. Too often, these are framed solely as moral imperatives, something we do "for others." While that is important, I feel that the field has failed to communicate something even more crucial: caring about these issues is in our own best interest. It’s not just about altruism; it’s about ensuring our individual welfare and collective survival. Over time, I’ve encountered too many outdated, ingrained ideas that no longer make sense in today’s context. This platform is my way of creating a space where I - and others - can deconstruct these ideas, rethink the narratives, and hopefully inspire others to do the same.

The Logo

Our logo reflects the core of our vision and values. We, the main contributors and who ever joins, firmly believe in the validity of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) targets, and our colours are a nod to this commitment. It also represents our belief in the importance of international, collective, and aligned action. While multilateralism is far from perfect, climate and nature know no boundaries—global, coordinated efforts are essential if we are to address the challenges we face.

At the heart of our work is the need to challenge a fundamental, outdated belief: that humans own the world. Instead, we embrace the idea that we need to de-construct this, and embrace a very obvious fact of life, we are an integral part of nature, not separate from it. Our logo—a brain within a tree—embodies this vision. It symbolizes the interconnectedness of human ingenuity and the natural world, reflecting our commitment to creating solutions that honor this essential relationship.
